Course Information

This SIA Door Supervisor Refresher Course in Cardiff is for people who already have an SIA licence. It helps them renew their Door Supervisor licence. A prerequisite for this course is an Emergency First Aid Certificate. If you don’t currently hold this certificate, we offer a First Aid course that can be booked alongside your top-up course.

What Will I Learn?

Over the two days (or three if you include First Aid), this course focuses on refreshing your skills and updating your knowledge in accordance with the latest SIA regulations. The course is split into three units, covering essential areas needed to continue working as a licensed Door Supervisor.

Unit 1: Principles of Terror Threat Awareness

As security professionals, it's crucial to stay updated on potential security risks. This unit covers:

• Understanding current and emerging terror threats relevant to your role as a Door Supervisor.
• Recognising and responding to suspicious behaviour and activities.
• Applying preventative measures and understanding evacuation protocols.

Unit 2: Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry

This unit focuses on the practical use of security equipment, including:

• The correct use of communication devices, such as radios and CCTV.
• Safe handling of personal protective equipment (PPE) for crowd management and security.
• Knowledge of searching tools and techniques in line with the latest SIA regulations.
• Covering required Health & Safety involved in use of this equipment.

Unit 3: Application of Physical Intervention

Building on previous training, this unit refines your skills in handling physical interventions:

• Non-violent intervention techniques to de-escalate potential conflicts.
• Using reasonable force within legal guidelines to protect yourself and others.
• Post-incident procedures, including reporting and supporting affected individuals.
