SIA Close Protection Training Course Information

This SIA Close Protection Course is designed to prepare individuals for a professional career in the private security industry as a licensed Close Protection Officer. The course is highly intensive and covers a wide range of skills, from threat assessments and physical intervention techniques to operational planning and surveillance awareness. This course is essential for those wishing to obtain the SIA Close Protection Licence and start working in private security.

Prerequisites:

To enroll in this course, you are required to hold a valid Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (FAW) or equivalent. This certification must be obtained prior to the start of the course and should have at least 12 months remaining before expiry. Unit 4: Physical Intervention Skills

  • Non-violent intervention techniques to minimise risk and harm.
  • Physical intervention techniques that comply with legal and operational guidelines.
  • Training in how to manage and extract the principal from high-risk environments while maintaining the safety of the entire security team.
  • Teamwork and coordination in physical intervention scenarios, ensuring seamless execution in high-pressure situations.

Unit 5: Close Protection in Hostile Environments (HECPO)

  • An introduction to working in hostile environments, including training in weapon awareness and casualty extraction.
  • Explosive device awareness (IED/EFP) and mine awareness.
  • Understanding the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other gear commonly required in hostile environments.
